Apartment Review for Archstone Monument Park - Fairfax, VA

This place is a circus. The front office staff are extremely unhelpful, curt, and absolutely will not go out their way to make you feel "at home" as Archstone advertises. The parking situation is the worst I've ever seen in my time in DC. The management changed the policy three times just during the course of our lease. The current situation, regardless of what they tell you when you look at the apts, is that only 10 visitor passes a DAY will be issued. With close to 2,000 residents, and very strictly enforced towing, that is unacceptable. There are not nearly enough parking spots for residents; to the point that if you aren't home early enough on any given day you literally will not find a place to park your car. Residents have had to spend the night at friends houses b/c there were just no spots! On top of that, as a resident with a decal I've had my car towed from the parking lot several times. When I complained about this, Mangament said they reserve the right to tow when they see fit, again regardless of what the agreement you signed with your lease says. Another recurring issue was the maintenance personnel. While they did promtly fix any problems we reported, often times they 'fixed' problems we did not report. On multiple occasions I came home from work to find workers in my apt after office hours, and would have recieved no notice from management as to what they were doing there or why they were given permission to be there. Upon questioning the management, their response was always 'Ok we'll call next time.' Very disconcerting. We are moving out as soon as our lease is up, and every neighbor I've talked to is doing the same. Bottom line, Archstone really should be concerned what this property is doing to its image in the Northern VA area. They've taken what could have been an enjoyable living situation and made it a stress filled roller coaster.
