Unsafe Living Conditions for a Single Female...or
Review Date: 6/7/2006

I lived at Circle Towers fresh out of college for 2 years. I chose it because it was a decent price for a great location. Within walking distance of the Metro Station and is pretty convenient with the plaza with a small deli, hair salon and chinese takeout, and suntrust bank right at your doorstep.

Firstly, the move in was terrible. They claim that you can having morning hours to move in from 7-12 but there is nobody there to lock the elevator for you until 9am when the resident service person comes. Secondly, it's not a freight elevator so you can forget moving in large furniture to high levels cause it's not getting in the elevator. I was given a 3 seater sofa and the frame could not fit into the elevator and I lived on the 10th floor! I had to trash it because we were too tired to figure out what to do with the thing and there was no way we could handle going up 10 flights of stairs with the couch.

Parking wasn't so much of an issue the first time I moved there. Then the changed the parking policy so that no residents could park in the main parking lot of Tower 2 because it was only for commercial parking. Of the many people that were residents in 3 towers they gave priority parking to the few business workers, which include the leasing office staff. They are tow crazy at the apartment. First thing at 10pm they tow right away and 8am sharp. The tow truck waits in the parking lot for 10pm to roll around so that he can begin towing. If you came home late past 11pm or so you can pretty much forget about finding parking. You'll have to either park in one of the commercial spots and wake up in the morning to move your car so it doesn't get towed or park on the street in the neighborhood across the street.

Along with that the community is not well lit, and there are many sketchy characters hanging around in the parking lot of the complex at night. As a female, walking to your apartment from the parking lot at night was never a fun experience. I was approachd on many occassions by a sketchy character.

Security is a joke at the complex. The front door is forever jammed so anybody can get in. The door got jammed so badly that by the last months of me living there the door jammed so that you couldn't leave the building only enter! The security cameras are only good for the time the resident service personel was sitting in the office. There was an incident where a girl was attacked in the covered parking lot late at night at the apartment. There are plenty of cameras down there but what good is it if you can't catch the person bc nobody's watching the camera? Wouldn't they have been able to at least identify the guy if the camera actually was recorded?

Snow! Yes, we all know it snows here in Northern VA during the summer This place does NOT do a good job of removing the snow. The stairs that go down to the covered parking lot, they don't throw down salt or anything. The stairs are dangerous enough by itself (cracked wood and no hand rail) but if it's icy you can be sure you're gettin to the bottom of those stairs on your butt. The main lot is also just as icy and they are not quick about having someone come out and have it done.

The walls are paper thin. You can here everything in the hall, the person in the apartment beside you, across the hall from you, upstairs, downstairs. It's terrible! And you better believe that the apartment smells like crap. All the different smells coming from all the apartments cooking food mix together in the hallways and sometimes seep into your apartment. Korean, Indian, Chinese. It's all there.

The leasing personnel are unfriendly and uncooperative. They don't really care about the residents' needs. They only care about their stupid "policy" They charge you for everything and going there is just an unpleasant experience. There's always new people in the leasing office because I guess they can't keep good personnel. I know because my cousin moved in with me for a short while and worked there for a short period as well.

The elevators were always broken. Living on the 10th floor, you better believe it was the pits getting up and down. They were slow and usually malfunctioning.

The Laundry machines were replaced during my stay there. The machinese got smaller so that you could wash less and they still were not functional. It still leaked water all over the floor and some machines just didn't work all together.

They also never switched the heat and air conditioning on in time. So you could have periods were you are freezing in your apartment cause there's no heat or you'll be sweating because there's no air conditioning.

I hated living there. The only reason why I stayed for as long as I did was because of the price and location. I worked in DC so commuting by metro was great. But after my first year they increased my rent so I decided enough was enough and packed my bags and left.
