Apartment Review for Circle Towers Apartments - Fairfax, VA

I live at Circle Towers right now having moved in late 2006.

I'm sure the experiences of all the previous reviewers are perfectly genuine but I wanted a place quickly, wasn't looking to spend too much money and liked the location.

As I understand it, this apartment complex underwent a change in ownership during 2006. The new owners seem to be investing heavily in improving the complex. Work is ongoing, and you could argue that it could be going faster, but significant improvements are being made.

Here's the story so far...

Elevators - these are in the process of being replaced. This does have the short term disadvantage that only one per tower is currently operating and the operational unit is the original elevator which does fail under the strain from time to time.

Security, a new security entry system is being installed using modern proximity entry cards rather than keys. These cards will also control access to the garage.

Parking, lots of people have commented on the parking policies. I must admit, I've not had any problems but then my apartment came with an assigned space in the garage. I can't really comment on guest parking but I haven't noticed towing vehicles prowling the carpark looking for victims - maybe I just haven't been looking!

Unit decor. My unit had been redecorated prior to my moving in. It was freshly painted, had new carpets & the bathroom fixtures had been replaced.

General decor - the public areas are in the process of being renovated. I believe all the corridors are now done and the lobbies are underway. It all looks pretty fresh, cleanly painted with bright modern lighting.

Noise - I have noticed that the walls between units are a bit thin and the soundproofing could be better but I can't, in all honesty, say that the noise from my neighbors has ever bothered me. I might just be lucky and have quiet neighbors.

Management. Haven't had to deal with the management very extensively but have always found them to be pleasant enough. Certainly the previous comments on the wierd policies don't seem to be so bad now - I signed a general exercise room waiver with my lease & the gym is secured by the same card entry system as everywhere else.

In conclusion, I think this complex is undergoing significant improvement. I don't have to live here - I could easily afford more money if I wanted. The location and nearby amenities are a real advantage.
