Apartment Review for Elms At Oakton - Fairfax, VA

I have lived here for about a year and a half and have had an overall good experience. I have a two bedroom unit with the additional sunroom on the top floor. Condition of the unit is good but somewhat dated, fresh carpet and paint upon move in. Lots of windows that aren't the most efficient but are better than my last place. Maintenance has been reliable, but i did have a maintenance request that i submitted online go overlooked, so be sure to call rather than submit online. Yes, things have broken, door knob came loose, door was sticking, dishwasher backed up, but these things happen everywhere, what counts has been the maintenance has responded well. my neighbors are generally quiet, parking is plentiful, there is a car wash area, and the raquetteball court is nice to have. the fairfax cross county trail is real close for walks and running, which i think is a great thing to have in this area, between that, the pool, raquetteball and the small gym, i was able to cancel my gym membership. Some have complained about the cost of rent, its not cheap(everything is inflated around here), but i could not find a better deal within 5 miles when i shopped around prior to renewing my lease. If you can find me a large 2 bed, 2 bath with the ammenities and location this place had for a cheaper price id be surprised. Fire station is nearby and i can hear the trucks go by but i wouldn't call it loud or annoying, can't hear jermantown, 123 or 66 at all from inside my apt and i wouldn't call it loud outside either (i imagine this is going to vary by apt location within the complex if your in the middle your fine, near the road louder, consider this before complaining about it, im closer to jermantown rd). Mailboxes have been replaced, new railings going up on stairs, repiping of all water supply is underway, an incovenience but it has been handled professionally and my unit was turned around in 3 work days.
